The 330/220/110 kV “Gobu” substation, with a transmission capacity of 1000 MW, and the 385 MW “Gobu” Electrical Station, which were founded by Mr. President Ilham Aliyev in 2020, were built in a record time – within one year.
The “Gobu” Energy Hub is very important in the country and especially in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula due to meeting the rapidly increasing demand for electricity, reducing dependence on power plants in the Baku and Absheron Peninsula regions, maximizing the durability and reliability of the electricity supply, reducing technical losses, minimizing the risk of system failure, taking over the function of regulation of generation power in Baku and Absheron, carrying out the replacement function of the 500 kV “Absheron” substation, creating Baku’s 330 kV circular electricity supply system, the creation of the electricity supply system, and other factors.
